Motivation Monday - Recharged

It's Motivation Monday again and I realize I've been MIA for a couple weeks. Sorry. Didn't mean to leave you in the dark. I've just been getting in some recreation time and have been preparing for the upcoming changes starting this month!

July, just like May, has been a very busy month for us, jam-packed with fun, newness, and adventure. Here's what's been going on so far:

  1. The 4th of July.
  2. My new/old friend, Liz, moved here on the 4th of July (crazy, I know, but more on her later).
  3. Helped my new/old friend, Liz, move into her new place on the 4th of July (once again, more on her later).
  4. Getting ready to finish my BS at my new school (so excited!).
  5. Started doing the old HIIT the Beach routine from the first Beach Babe DVD by Tone It Up.
  6. Working longer hours at work (sigh...)
  7. Stress, stress, and more stress...
  8. Last, but not least, I have reawakened my desire to eat healthier as I was slipping up for about a month or so (barf)

So, as you can see, the days have been pretty busy lately and it's only the beginning of July, which is less than 6 months away from the biggest holidays of the year (Merry Half-Christmas, everyone!). There's been a lot to think about and even more to pray about for this family, but we're all doing well so far. Nothing really to complain about.

Over the weekend, my friend Liz (as previously mentioned above), Tim and I went hiking up my favorite trail: Kuliouou Ridge. It was a wonderful way to end the work week and was a great bonding time for this triumphant trio! We shared our love for the outdoors, healthy lifestyles, and hopes for the future with each other along the slippery slopes of the mountain. Although it was a little overcast and we didn't get the best view from the top due to the clouds being in the way, it was a magnificent time being able to just enjoy the earth that God has blessed.

Here are some pictures of our adventure (#nofilter)!

Yes, some of these pictures are just a little less than glamorous, but hey, this is just us being us. I can't even begin to tell you of the fun that the 3 of us have together. We're like Three's Company!

In just the course of the past 2 weeks, I have found the motivation to eat well again. Like I mentioned earlier, I was slipping. I would have a healthy meal here or there, but I was no longer thinking of the long-term effects that eating healthy would have on my body. I was starting to revert back to my old eating habits which included lots of sugar (I am a sugar-monster). Thanks to my newfound friendship with Liz, I started caring again.

I can't wait to go shopping for food next month! LOL

How do you guys stay motivated when you find yourself slipping into bad habits again?

That's it for now. Remember life is what you make it! Have a blessed day!

  2. Terri,

Thank you! Our hair is seriously what made these pictures priceless, aside from the people in them:) Good times.

  3. Love the pictures! I have a few crazy hair photos too. I have naturally curly hair and my friends in college found it to be hilarious to brush it and take pictures of it.

And thank you for sharing your motivation tips! I am trying to do that, but as with any change, it's a process. But, like you said, forgiveness is key!

  17. Well, I'm not so sure about what motivates me as I'm still trying to find mine, but I guess being chronically ill has motivated me to cut out all of the bad food. I just still am not sure if I am doing it right, that is why I am paying big bucks to go see a registered dietician on Monday. You three look like you had a blast on your hike up that beautiful lush mountain.
